Even if the reaction happened a long time ago and you remember little or have few documents, the information you do have remains useful.
Photographing a reactionShow the advice
- Take an overview, then a clear close-up.
- Use natural light, without a filter or direct flash if possible.
- Photograph the same area at several times: onset, progression and resolution.
- Include a size reference without covering the lesion.
- Record the date, time, symptoms, suspected exposure and treatment taken.
Time to allowShow the advice
Initial assessment: often 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the procedures.
Simple follow-up: often 30 to 45 minutes.
Patch tests: several appointments during the same week.
Challenge test: half a day or a full day in a specialist unit.
The times stated in your appointment letter take priority.
Should I stop a medicine before my appointment?Never change a treatment by yourself
The medicines concerned and the time intervals depend on the planned tests. Follow the instructions from your allergy centre and the prescriber first. If you cannot stop a medicine, contact the centre rather than cancelling the appointment automatically.
Continue your maintenance asthma treatment unless you have received personalised medical instructions to do otherwise.
